If you are a collector without big money to spend on minerals please do not get discouraged at the phenomenal prices of some minerals! You may be just starting, studying, or simply have to stay within strict budget limits; be assured we care about you too. One of the nice things about the mineral hobby is that one can get quite a nice collection on modest means. If you do not seek to beat others in competition, you can build a very nice collection without spending too much. It may not be the best in the world but it is yours! Scientifically it can be just as significant.

Kendyar Massif, Khabarovskiy Kray, Russia. Small but very sharp crystals to 3 mm party gold "plated" in nature.; to most of us this was a stunning occurrence but one theory is that the Pt crystals formed deep underground (in rock which got uplifted and eventually eroded releasing them) and got plated geologically much later by tumbling with gold in streams. Apparently only this deposit produces these.
